Tucked between the foothills of Mount Makiling and surrounded by a rainforest teeming with life, Hidden Valley Springs in Laguna is a natural wonder that lives up to its name. This geothermal paradise offers a series of warm and cold natural spring pools cradled in a crater believed to be formed by ancient volcanic activity. With cascading waterfalls, dense vegetation, and natural mineral pools, Hidden Valley is a sanctuary for those seeking wellness, tranquility, and a deep connection with nature. It’s the kind of place that feels untouched by time — a tropical Eden just a few hours away from Metro Manila.

        Location and Accessibility

Hidden Valley Springs is located in Barangay Perez, Alaminos, Laguna, with coordinates 14.097660° N, 121.258100° E. It’s easily accessible from Metro Manila:

        • By Private Car: From Manila, take SLEX (South Luzon Expressway), exit at Calamba or Santo Tomas, and follow signs to Alaminos. The trip typically takes 2 to 3 hours, depending on traffic.
        • By Public Transport: Ride a bus from Buendia or Cubao bound for Lucena or San Pablo and get off at Alaminos, Laguna. From there, take a tricycle to the resort entrance (around 15–20 minutes).

The road to Hidden Valley is paved but narrow in parts. The final approach to the resort winds through a forested path, enhancing the feeling of seclusion.

        Natural Features

Hidden Valley is nestled in a 110-acre rainforest reserve that hosts towering trees, giant ferns, orchids, and endemic species of birds and insects. The main attractions are:

        • Thermal spring pools rich in minerals, said to be good for the skin and body.
        • The “Lover’s Pool,” “Warm Pool,” and “Soda Pool” — each with distinct water temperatures and experiences.
        • A secluded hidden waterfall, accessible via a short jungle trail, that cascades into a shallow pool.

The rich volcanic soil and underground geothermal activity contribute to the water’s naturally warm temperature and exceptional clarity. Geologically, the valley is thought to be part of a collapsed crater, which explains the presence of multiple hot and cold springs throughout the area.

        Activities and Experiences

Visitors come here mainly for soaking and relaxation, but the experience is far more enriching:

        • Swim or float in a series of mineral-rich pools shaded by thick jungle canopies.
        • Trek to the hidden waterfall, enjoying a nature walk surrounded by untouched flora.
        • Spot rare butterflies and birds along the trails.
        • Participate in day tours or wellness retreats often offered by the resort.

The peaceful ambiance and low visitor volume make this an ideal destination for meditation, journaling, or simply digital detox.

        Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit is during the dry season (December to May) when trails are safe, and the pools are clean and clear. However, because the area is largely forested, Hidden Valley Springs remains lush and beautiful year-round. Avoid weekends and holidays for a more serene experience.

        Facilities and Nearby Amenities

Hidden Valley Springs operates as a day resort with optional overnight accommodations. Facilities include:

        • Well-maintained changing rooms, lockers, restrooms, and showers
        • Buffet lunch and merienda (afternoon snacks) typically included in day tour packages
        • Comfortable cottages and suites for overnight stays
        • Function areas for small events, yoga sessions, or wellness retreats

Nearby towns like San Pablo and Alaminos offer additional accommodation and dining options if you plan to explore more of Laguna.

        Visitor Tips and Guidelines
        • Bring swimwear, towels, water shoes, and insect repellent.
        • Be cautious on wet, mossy paths and steps — the forest can be slippery.
        • Respect the environment: avoid using strong soaps or shampoos in the pools.
        • Follow all posted guidelines, as the resort emphasizes eco-sustainability and preservation.
        • It’s best to book in advance, especially for weekends or group visits, as entry may be limited to preserve the tranquility.

Whether you’re escaping the city, rejuvenating your spirit, or simply exploring the natural beauty of the Philippines, Hidden Valley Springs is a rare gem. Its combination of geothermal wonders, dense rainforest, and restorative waters make it one of Laguna’s most magical destinations. Visit for the healing, stay for the silence, and leave with a renewed appreciation for nature’s quiet elegance.
